The staff team creates positive relationships through shared daily life in a safe, well-maintained, and stimulating environment. ForeverCare works closely with external agencies to support young people’s integration into communities, families, or independent living. The service is focused on helping young people move toward fulfilling their long-term potential.
Role Description
The Residential Practitioner is a full-time, on-site role based in Greater Manchester. The role involves providing day-to-day care and support to young people in a residential setting, including helping them with routines, education, and social activities. The practitioner will build trusting, professional relationships, model positive behavior, and encourage personal development and independence. Daily tasks include key working, record keeping, attending meetings with partner agencies, and contributing to care plans and risk assessments. The role also involves maintaining a safe, clean, and engaging environment, supporting emotional and behavioral needs, and working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

- Experience working with children or young people in residential, social care, education, or youth work settings, with a strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting their welfare.
- Skills in building positive, respectful relationships, managing challenging behavior, and offering consistent emotional support.
- Strong communication skills, including clear verbal and written communication, accurate record keeping, and effective collaboration with colleagues and external agencies.
- Ability to plan and participate in daily activities, support life skills development (such as self-care and independence), and adapt approaches to individual needs.
- Organizational and time-management skills, including working to policies and procedures, following care plans, and responding calmly in emergencies.
- Basic IT skills for documentation and reporting, and willingness to learn relevant systems used in residential care.
- Relevant qualification in health and social care, childcare, or a related field (or willingness to work toward such a qualification); up-to-date training in safeguarding and first aid is an advantage.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and openness to ongoing learning, supervision, and professional development.
