Role Description
This contract Residential Security Officer role is an on-site position based in Birmingham. The officer will monitor and patrol residential premises, control access points, and verify the identity of visitors and contractors. Daily tasks include conducting security checks, responding to alarms or incidents, maintaining detailed incident reports, and liaising with residents and management to address safety concerns. The role also involves following established security protocols, operating surveillance systems where applicable, and escalating issues according to procedures. The officer is expected to uphold a professional presence, support emergency response, and contribute to a safe and secure environment for all residents.
Qualifications
- Strong observational skills, situational awareness, and the ability to identify and report potential security risks.
- Experience in residential or corporate security, law enforcement, or a related protective services field.
- Ability to follow security protocols, write clear incident reports, and maintain accurate records.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with residents, visitors, and management in a professional manner.
- Capacity to remain calm under pressure, make sound decisions, and respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and conduct patrols for extended periods, and to work varied shifts if required.
- Relevant security certifications or licenses as required by local regulations; first aid or CPR training is an advantage.
- Reliable, ethical, and able to pass background checks and any additional screening required for residential security work.

Essential Requirements
- At least three years' front-line security experience within a residential, concierge or high-net-worth environment.
- A valid SIA Door Supervisor or Close Protection licence, held in physical card form and available on every shift.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a clean, presentable vehicle, as the role will involve use of your vehicle during shifts.
- The right to work in the UK and a clean, verifiable five-year employment history.
- Strong written English for report writing and confident verbal communication with residents at all levels.
- A smart appearance and professional conduct in company uniform at all times.
- The physical ability to patrol on foot for extended periods and respond quickly to incidents.
- Flexibility to work across properties in the Coventry and Birmingham area as operational requirements change.

Desirable
- First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid certification.
- CCTV Public Space Surveillance SIA licence.
- Conflict management, Fire Marshal or FREC training.
- Experience using access-control platforms, CCTV suites and digital patrol or reporting systems.
- A Close Protection background or experience supporting high-profile residents.
