Residential Smart Energy - Associate Consultant

Location - London or Edinburgh

LCP Delta is looking for an Associate Consultant to help clients understand how residential smart energy is evolving across Europe. The role sits within our Residential Smart Energy team and will focus on the points where energy retail, customer propositions, electrification, flexibility and digital services meet. This is a chance to develop insight that enables energy companies to make better strategic decisions, while supporting a key growth area for LCP Delta.

Our Residential Smart Energy Team

Our Residential Smart Energy team focuses on the intersection of energy retail, flexibility, customer propositions, electrification and digital services. We help clients understand how the residential smart energy market is evolving and develop the strategies and business models needed to capture value from the transition. Working with energy retailers, OEMs and policymakers, our research and consulting spans three core areas: energy retail, flexibility and asset interoperability. We combine deep market analysis with strategic and commercial advice, helping clients understand where the market is heading, what it means for their business and where the next opportunities lie.

  • How will the role of the energy retailer evolve?
  • What makes an energy app useful and valuable to customers?
  • Where is value being created through residential flexibility, and who can capture it?
  • Which customer propositions are leading the market, and why?
  • What is driving the adoption of communication protocols and interoperability standards?

This is a great opportunity to:

  • Develop, deliver and manage cutting-edge research and consulting projects on residential energy retail, retail strategy, smart propositions and customer-side flexibility
  • Work at the centre of a fast-changing part of the energy transition
  • Build a profile as a trusted expert on how residential energy markets are changing across Europe
  • Develop relationships with energy retailers, technology providers, investors and other market participants

What will you be doing?

  • Managing and delivering research projects within our Residential Smart Energy research service and consulting projects, with a particular focus on energy retail
  • Leading research using qualitative and quantitative methods, including expert interviews, market analysis, desk research and data analysis
  • Producing clear, engaging outputs for clients, including reports, viewpoints, databases and presentations
  • Communicating insights to clients through meetings, presentations, email and webinars
  • Building relationships with industry contacts and using those relationships to strengthen our market insight and business development activities
  • Identifying emerging trends and helping to translate them into client-relevant insight
  • Providing expert opinion on energy retail to clients and colleagues
  • Collaborating closely with colleagues across the Residential Smart Energy team and related teams, including EVs, heat and flexibility

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
