Residential Child Care Community provides residential child care in a family-style environment, offering stability, safety, and consistent support to children and young people. Role Description

As a Residential Support Worker, you will provide day-to-day care and support to children and young people living in the home, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and structured environment. You will build positive relationships, assist with daily routines such as meals, personal care, education, and leisure activities, and support young people in developing life skills and independence. You will also help manage household tasks, respond calmly to challenging situations, and promote a consistent, therapeutic approach. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Salford.

Qualifications

  • Experience working as Support Workers or in similar care roles with children or young people in residential or community settings.
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills and Communication skills to build trust, manage conflict, and work effectively with children, families, and professionals.
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding practices, child protection procedures, and relevant regulations, with a commitment to maintaining a safe environment.
  • Basic Technical Support abilities, including using electronic care records, email, and other digital tools to document and communicate information.
  • Relevant qualification in social care, youth work, psychology, or a related field (or working towards), and willingness to undertake ongoing training.
  • Ability to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, as required by the needs of the home.
  • Resilience, emotional maturity, and the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and person-centered care is desirable.
