Role Description
The Residential Support Worker role is a full-time, on-site position based in Chesterfield. This role involves providing day-to-day care, emotional support, and guidance to children and young people living in the home.

- Supporting residents with daily routines, education, and community activities
- Promoting a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment
- Contributing to care plans
- Recording observations accurately
- Collaborating with families, external professionals, and colleagues to ensure consistent, high-quality support
- Following safeguarding procedures
- Participating in team meetings and training
- Responding calmly and professionally to challenging situations
Qualifications
- NVQ 3 / 4 desirable
- Full driving licence essential
- Experience in residential care or similar settings, with practical skills relevant to Support Worker roles
- Strong Interpersonal Skills and Communication abilities to build trust, listen actively, and engage effectively with children, young people, families, and colleagues
- Knowledge of Safeguarding practices, child protection procedures, and the ability to follow policies to maintain safety and wellbeing
- Comfort with documentation and Technical Support tasks, including using digital systems to record information and communicate with the wider care team
- Relevant qualification in social care, youth work, childcare, or a related field (or working toward such qualifications)
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, use de-escalation techniques, and respond appropriately to challenging behavior
- Willingness to work shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by the needs of the home
- Understanding of trauma-informed and person-centred approaches; experience in children’s residential settings is an advantage
