Sanctuary 16 is an Ofsted registered children’s home in Surrey, providing a safe, nurturing and supportive environment for children and young people aged 8–16.
The home’s work is guided by the principles of “Stabilise, Strengthen, Transition,” focusing first on creating stability through consistent, relationship-based care.
From this secure foundation, the team supports young people to build confidence, resilience, emotional wellbeing, and practical life skills, helping them to recognise their strengths and achieve positive outcomes.
Sanctuary 16 uses therapeutic-informed practice, including the principles of PACE, and works collaboratively with families, professionals, and partner agencies. The organisation is committed to safeguarding, high-quality care, and a positive culture where both young people and staff are supported to learn, develop, and thrive.
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Residential Support Worker role based in Staines-Upon-Thames. The Residential Support Worker will provide day-to-day care, guidance, and practical support to children and young people, helping to create a safe, nurturing, and structured environment. Responsibilities include supporting daily routines, promoting education and healthy living, and encouraging participation in activities that build confidence, resilience, and life skills.

The Residential Support Worker will follow safeguarding procedures, support positive behaviour, and contribute to a collaborative team culture focused on stabilising, strengthening, and supporting successful transitions for young people.
Qualifications
- Experience in residential care or similar settings, with the skills needed to work effectively as a Support Worker in a children’s home.
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication abilities to build trusting relationships with young people, colleagues, families, and partner agencies.
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding practices and relevant regulations, with the ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate records.
- Basic technical support and IT skills to use digital systems for reporting, record-keeping, and communication.
- Relevant qualification in social care, youth work, or a related field (or willingness to work towards one), and an understanding of therapeutic-informed approaches such as PACE.
- Ability to work shifts, including evenings and weekends, remain calm under pressure, and contribute positively to a team environment.
