About The Role
Based in Beckton, this full-time Resilience Manager (Electrical) role carries a salary between £65,000 and £77,000, dependent on experience. You will offer technical leadership across water and wastewater sites, ensuring electrical power systems are designed and maintained to reduce the risk of outages. Your duties involve translating strategic aims into practical site-level actions, guiding engineering teams, and shaping a coordinated, data-led approach to power management. Power Resilience is critical to Thames Water's ability to provide safe, reliable services to millions of customers. We are expanding our Power Resilience capability to strengthen how power is planned, maintained and enhanced across our operations. We are looking for talented individuals to join this growing team and help shape a coordinated, data-led approach to managing Power Resilience across Thames Water.
What You’ll Be Doing As Resilience Manager
The Resilience Manager is responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance on Power Resilience across water and wastewater sites, ensuring that electrical power systems are designed, maintained and enhanced to minimise the risk and impact of power loss.
As Resilience Manager, you will play a key role in translating the Power Resilience strategy into engineered solutions, standards and plans that improve reliability and help protect customers, the environment and Thames Water’s assets.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a vital area of UK infrastructure and make a meaningful difference to customer outcomes and environmental protection. As the team grows, members will play an important role in shaping future ways of working and bringing their expertise to create lasting positive impact across Thames Water.
Base location
Location can be flexible for both London or Thames Valley (e.g., Beckton, Hampton, Reading & Swindon)
Working pattern or hours
Hybrid - 36 Hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership and Capability: You will lead, support and develop the Power Resilience Engineering team, coaching and mentoring a geographically dispersed workforce to build capability, confidence and consistency of delivery.
- Resilience Assessments: You will own priority system and site Power Resilience assessments, producing single-line views and technical documentation that identify vulnerabilities, critical paths and opportunities for mitigation and improvement.
- Investment Planning and Reporting: You will manage and report on planned resilience investments (scope, sequencing, budget, benefits), maintaining clear delivery baselines and outcomes for board and programme governance.
- Standards and Best Practice: You will champion Power Resilience standards, policies and guidance, supporting the adoption of engineering best practice across delivery, maintenance and operations and ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements (e.g. CDM, ESQCR).
- Delivery Integration and Stakeholder Coordination: You will work closely with internal and external teams to coordinate planned power work, manage dependencies and support seamless collaboration and handovers across teams.

What you should bring to the role?
- Proven managerial experience leading technical/engineering teams, with experience coaching, mentoring and developing geographically dispersed teams.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety (including CDM).
- Held Operational Authorisations.
The essential criteria to help you succeed in this role is:
- Knowledge of LV/HV electrical engineering and Power Resilience principles, with an understanding of power system design, assessment and upgrade methodologies.
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and safety standards (CDM, ESQCR, IS standards).
- Ability to interpret and approve technical documentation, single line diagrams and risk assessments.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Deep understanding of project and programme management tools (e.g. MS Project, SAP), and familiarity with asset management and maintenance systems.
- Data analysis and reporting for technical and compliance purposes.
