Job Description: North Region Resource Planning Department

We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and motivated individual to join the North Region Resource Planning Department.

This is an essential role within the Scottish Ambulance Service, responsible for the effective planning, maintenance and coordination of staff rosters to support operational service delivery across the Region. The successful candidate will provide a high level of administrative support, helping to ensure the efficient utilisation of resources while maintaining accurate and compliant staffing arrangements.

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Planning and maintaining staff rosters
  • Allocating shifts to operational personnel
  • Maximising the effective use of relief staff to meet service demands
  • Forward planning and ensuring short notice coverage of shifts due to absence, etc.
  • Producing and communicating timely, accurate resource planning information
  • Ensuring managers and relevant departments have the information required to support operational decision-making

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be computer literate and confident in the use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • Be able to work independently
  • Demonstrate a logical and methodical approach to problem-solving
  • Manage competing priorities effectively
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Previous experience of working within a Resource Planning or Scheduling department would be advantageous

Job Details

  • Contract: 1-year fixed term
  • Working Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday with weekend working also required
  • Work Location: Blended approach combining home and office-based working can be considered
