Resource Planning & Supply Chain Manager
London / Hybrid – Tuesdays and Thursdays in the office
£68,000–£75,000 plus benefits
National travel with occasional international travel
Are you an experienced Resource Planning & Supply Chain Manager who enjoys bringing structure, visibility and control to complex project environments? This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of resource planning, supplier performance and project mobilisation within a growing engineering business.
As Resource Planning & Supply Chain Manager, you will coordinate the people, subcontractors, suppliers, equipment and materials required across a varied portfolio of projects. Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers and the wider operational team, you will anticipate demand, resolve capacity conflicts and ensure every project has what it needs to achieve key programme milestones.
This is not simply a procurement role. The successful Resource Planning & Supply Chain Manager will combine workforce planning, supply-chain management, commercial awareness and operational coordination, creating robust processes that support efficiency, cost control and continued business growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Developing and maintaining the company-wide resource plan.
- Allocating Site Managers, Engineers, Supervisors and specialist resources across projects.
- Forecasting future demand and identifying resource or capacity gaps.
- Supporting recruitment planning and the use of temporary or agency labour.
- Monitoring utilisation, workloads, annual leave and over-allocation.
- Working with Project Managers to resolve competing resource requirements.
- Supporting project planning, mobilisation and programme delivery.
- Managing the approved supplier and subcontractor network.
- Sourcing, evaluating and onboarding new suppliers.
- Coordinating procurement activity to support project delivery.
- Monitoring supplier performance, lead times, costs and quality.
- Negotiating commercial agreements and driving value for money.
- Coordinating transport, hire equipment and supplier contracts.
- Developing supplier KPIs and monthly performance dashboards.
- Managing risks relating to resource availability, capacity, logistics and long-lead items.
- Driving continuous improvement across planning and supply-chain processes.

Ideal Candidate Profile
- Strong experience in complex resource or workforce planning.
- Experience within engineering, construction, utilities, infrastructure or project delivery.
- A good understanding of supplier, subcontractor and procurement management.
- Experience forecasting capacity and balancing competing project priorities.
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
- Experience using MS Project, Primavera P6 or similar planning software.
- The confidence to challenge, influence and resolve operational conflicts.
- Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- A proactive approach with high personal standards.
- The flexibility to travel nationally and occasionally internationally.
Water-industry experience would be useful but is not essential. More important is your ability to bring together people, suppliers, information and project requirements in a structured and commercially effective way.
