Resource Manager

My client, a large global law firm, with an exceptional reputation worldwide, is looking to hire a Resource Manager into their firm on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is a high-profile opportunity to join a market-leading legal organisation and take ownership of resource management for a busy, high-performing practice group. Acting as a strategic adviser to senior leadership, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring legal talent is deployed effectively, supporting business performance, utilisation, profitability and the overall development of lawyers across the team.

The successful candidate will combine commercial awareness with exceptional stakeholder management skills and will be comfortable operating at both a strategic and operational level. You will work closely with Partners, senior lawyers, HR and business management teams to provide forward-looking workforce planning, capacity management and resourcing solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the lead adviser on resource allocation and workforce planning within a large legal practice group.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of current and future workload demands, monitoring lawyer capacity, utilisation and availability.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to make informed staffing decisions that balance client requirements, lawyer development and commercial objectives.
  • Provide data-driven insights and reporting to support strategic decision-making, budgeting and headcount planning.
  • Identify upcoming resource challenges and implement proactive solutions to ensure optimal deployment of legal talent.
  • Work collaboratively with Partners and business leaders to improve utilisation, productivity and overall team performance.
  • Support workforce forecasting and longer-term people planning initiatives.
  • Promote fair and balanced allocation of work, ensuring opportunities are distributed equitably across the team.
  • Collaborate closely with HR on performance, development, wellbeing and retention-related matters.
  • Support the integration of new joiners, returners and secondees through effective work allocation and onboarding support.
  • Explore alternative resourcing solutions where appropriate, including flexible legal resource, project support, process improvement initiatives and emerging legal technology solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement across resource management processes, reporting and best practice.
  • Manage and develop more junior members of the resource management team.
  • Work closely with colleagues across wider business functions to support strategic projects and firm-wide initiatives.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
