Disputes Resource Manager – Leading Law Firm – London / Bristol – Hybrid Working
A leading law firm is seeking a Resource Manager to join its highly regarded Disputes & Risk practice group. This opportunity would suit a disputes lawyer with at least four years’ PQE looking to move into practice management, resourcing and lawyer development.
Working closely with Partners, the Operations Director and the Lead Resource Manager, you will help shape how work is allocated across the practice, matching lawyers’ skills and career aspirations with client requirements. This is an opportunity to apply your disputes experience in a commercially focused role, supporting effective client delivery, balanced workloads and the development of legal talent.
The practice spans Commercial Disputes, IP, Regulatory Disputes, Property Disputes, Construction & Engineering Disputes, and Restructuring & Insolvency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing work allocation across lawyer teams, balancing client needs, capacity, skills and development opportunities
- Building trusted relationships with Partners and team leaders, advising on appropriate staffing for current and anticipated matters
- Working closely with lawyers to understand their workloads, interests and career aspirations
- Monitoring utilisation and workflow, identifying pressure points and addressing uneven workloads
- Supporting career progression, training initiatives and the annual performance management process alongside HR and Knowledge teams
- Contributing to workforce planning, including team structures, secondments and the use of alternative resources
- Analysing performance data and presenting recommendations to support productivity, profitability and effective client service
- Improving resourcing processes and supporting the use of technology and legal project management

About You:
- A qualified disputes lawyer with at least four years’ PQE and an interest in moving into legal operations and practice management
- A strong understanding of the demands of disputes work and the practical considerations involved in staffing matters
- Excellent relationship-building skills, with the confidence to advise Partners and manage competing expectations
- An interest in developing people and helping lawyers access opportunities that support their progression
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to respond quickly to changing priorities and work autonomously
- An analytical approach, with the ability to interpret performance data and translate it into practical recommendations
- A collaborative and impartial approach, exercising sound judgement when balancing individual and business needs
