Overview
Are you a creative designer with a passion for digital storytelling, audience engagement and social media?
The Scottish Government's Resourcing Attraction Team is looking for a talented Graphic and Content Designer to help bring our employer brand to life and showcase the diverse and rewarding career opportunities available across the organisation.
In this varied and creative role, you will develop and deliver engaging, audience-focused content across a range of digital and print channels, helping to attract talented people into roles that make a difference to communities across Scotland. From designing social media campaigns, webpages and candidate guides to creating infographics, animations and digital advertising, your work will play a key role in strengthening our recruitment campaigns, enhancing the candidate experience and increasing awareness of Scottish Government careers.
Working closely with recruitment, attraction and communications colleagues, you'll have the opportunity to lead creative projects, shape innovative content approaches and use data-driven insights to maximise the impact of your work
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities
- Create engaging graphic design and digital content to support recruitment and attraction campaigns.
- Manage creative projects from initial concept through to production, testing and delivery.
- Lead and manage social media content, including planning, creation, scheduling and performance monitoring.
- Work with recruitment colleagues and stakeholders to develop effective content and attraction strategies.
- Provide expert advice on design, content creation, recruitment marketing and digital channels.
- Ensure all content meets Scottish Government brand, accessibility and quality standards.
- Use data, user insights and performance metrics to evaluate and improve content effectiveness.
- Build strong working relationships, share best practice and contribute positively to team and organisational goals.
- Manage competing priorities effectively while supporting continuous learning and professional development.

QUALIFICATIONS
Success Profile
Success profiles are specific to each job and they include the mix of behaviours, experience and technical criteria (if applicable) that candidates will be assessed on.
Experience:
- Proven experience in graphic design and content production with a strong track record of developing and delivering designs based on evidence of user needs and organisational outcomes.
- Expert understanding of Industry standard tools, including Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and After Effects)
- Experience of designing for digital formats including social media and the web with a detailed understanding of accessibility criteria and best practice standards.
- Professional expertise and judgement to advise on the appropriate use of graphic outputs and formats, along with the ability to prioritise under pressure.

Working Pattern
The post is a full-time role, but staff with different working patterns are invited to apply, and we will assess proposed working patterns against the business requirements for this post.
Our standard hours are 35 hours per week and we offer a range of flexible working options depending on the needs of the role, including Flexi-leave. Scottish Government staff in hybrid-compatible roles should aim to work in-person 40% of the time, either in an office or other agreed work location.
