Deputy Manager – CQC Respite Service
Location: Banstead, Surrey Hours: Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week (working shifts Monday – Sunday, some flexibility required) Salary: £31,540 to £33,210 per annum

We are currently working in partnership with Surrey County Council to deliver a quality, CQC Registered/Regulated Short Breaks service for people with Learning Disabilities and Complex Needs, through two state-of-the-art, purpose-built overnight respite centres in Woking and Banstead.
About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed, and experienced Deputy Manager to join our Short Breaks team at Surrey Choices, based at our newest respite centre in Banstead, Surrey.
In this role, you will:
- Assist the Registered Manager to oversee the daily running of an 8-bed CQC Registered service.
- Ensure the service provided offers a high standard of person-centred care.
- Ensure individuals using the service are treated with dignity and respect.
- Actively promote their independence, choice, and control.
- Support staff recruitment and onboarding.
- Assess and onboard users of the service (including liaising with families and Surrey County Council referring practitioners).
- Assist in building and equipment setup.

Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities include:

Management and supervision:
- Supervising and developing a dedicated team.
- Ensuring a 24-hour high-standard care environment.

Compliance and quality assurance:
- Adherence to CQC’s Regulatory Framework and Care Act obligations.
- Ensuring continuous improvement and a positive culture of change.

Service delivery:
- Working within a 24-hour service model with shift patterns (7 AM to 9 PM, Monday – Sunday).
- Overseeing an 8-bedded overnight service.

Stakeholder engagement:
- Liaising with families, Surrey County Council, and referring practitioners.
- Supporting people needing the service in person-centred planning.

Requirements
We are looking for you to have:
- Previous supervisory/management experience.
- Experience working with adults or children with disabilities.
- A good understanding of CQC’s Regulatory Framework and Care Act obligations.
- Excellent communication skills and organisational abilities.
- Project and change management skills.
- Adaptability to a 24-hour shift system.
- A team leadership approach and ability to develop colleagues.
- Flexibility and a positive attitude towards continuous improvement.
