Responsible Investment Standards Programme Lead (campaigning charity)

London / Hybrid

Salary: £68,843.95 + 8% pension Location contribution
Position: Permanent/Full time.
Closing date: 9am, Friday 21 August

The Opportunity

Civitas Recruitment are delighted to be working with a leading responsible investment charity focused on building a financial system that better serves people and planet. The charity focuses on a range of campaigns built around tackling climate change, biodiversity, workforce issues, and global health.

This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for managing a core programme to raise responsible investment standards. The postholder will help define, defend, develop, and embed standards across voluntary and mandatory contexts, with a focus on pension fund leadership, investor engagement, shareholder rights, and stronger regulation in the UK and EU.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategy and delivery of a complex responsible investment standards programme, setting clear change goals, power analysis, and theory of change.
  • Oversee a portfolio of campaigns and projects across investor engagement, policy advocacy, research, public campaigns, and external communications.
  • Lead bid development and manage funder relationships, with accountability for securing funding required to deliver the programme portfolio.
  • Represent the programme externally with senior stakeholders, including investors, policymakers, companies, funders, and partners.
  • Line manage and develop the Investor Engagement team, including oversight of asset owner engagement and responsible investment networks. Team of 5 to manage directly and 9 overall.
  • Hold responsibility for programme performance, risk, budgets, and reporting to the Leadership Team.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of leading complex influencing programmes or portfolios that shape the choices of decision-makers and power-holders. You will have strong programme management skills, experience developing strategy, and the ability to connect programme activity to wider organizational goals.

You will be confident managing senior external relationships, leading bids and funder relationships, and overseeing complex budgets. Experience leading and developing teams, including through matrix structures, is essential. Knowledge of responsible investment, financial sector influence, policy advocacy, campaigning, or related thematic areas would be highly advantageous.
