Company Description

Riverside Studios is a multi-arts center on the banks of the River Thames in Hammersmith, London, known for contemporary performance, film, visual art, and television production. Following a major redevelopment, it is reopening in a state-of-the-art building that will serve as a hub for live entertainment and innovation in live-to-digital arts. The new venue will feature three television and live arts studios, a cinema and screening room, rehearsal spaces, an archive and reading room, and restaurants and bars overlooking the river. Its diverse program will include theatre, comedy, independent film, exhibitions, festivals, installations, conferences, and space hire for external events. Riverside Studios also produces FuturePlay Festival, a digital arts festival showcasing virtual reality, interactive experiences, live performances, and industry-focused content at the intersection of art and technology.

Role Description

The Restaurant and Bar Operator is a full-time, on-site role based at Riverside Studios in Hammersmith. The role involves overseeing day-to-day operations of the restaurants and bars, including managing service standards, supervising staff, and ensuring a welcoming environment for guests.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating food and beverage service
  • Monitoring stock and inventory
  • Maintaining hygiene and safety standards
  • Working closely with the wider venue team to support events and performances
  • Managing customer interactions
  • Resolving service issues
  • Helping develop menu offerings and promotions that complement Riverside Studios’ artistic programming
  • Monitoring financial performance
  • Contributing to budgeting and reporting
  • Supporting training and development of front-of-house team members

Qualifications

  • Strong Customer Service and Food Service skills, with experience in a restaurant or bar environment.
  • Solid Food & Beverage knowledge, including menu understanding, drink service, and basic stock control.
  • Effective Interpersonal Skills and Communication abilities to engage guests and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Proven experience in hospitality operations, preferably in a cultural or entertainment venue.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team, with sound organizational and time-management skills.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and food hygiene standards, with a commitment to compliance.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment with variable hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Experience with point-of-sale systems and basic financial reporting is beneficial.
