Role Description
The Restaurant and Bar Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day operations of the restaurant and bar, ensuring excellent guest service and smooth service delivery at all times. This full-time, on-site role is based at Harbour Hotels Group’s Guildford property and involves supervising front-of-house teams, coordinating shifts, and supporting the Restaurant and Bar Manager with staffing, stock control, and reporting. The Supervisor will lead by example on the floor, greeting guests, managing reservations and walk-ins, and handling queries or issues promptly and professionally. Responsibilities include maintaining high standards of food and beverage presentation, monitoring hygiene and health and safety compliance, and supporting team members with ongoing training and development. The role also contributes to upselling initiatives, local promotions, and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere aligned with the Harbour Hotels brand.

Qualifications

- Strong supervisory skills with experience leading, motivating, and supporting front-of-house teams in a restaurant and bar environment.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities, with a focus on creating positive guest interactions and resolving issues effectively.
- Sound knowledge of food & beverage operations, including menu familiarity, bar service standards, and adherence to hygiene and health and safety regulations.
- Experience in training and coaching team members, including new starter onboarding and ongoing skills development.
- Previous experience in hospitality or hotel restaurant settings, ideally in a supervisory or senior front-of-house role.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by the operation.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks during busy service periods.
- Basic numeracy and IT skills for handling cash, POS systems, reservations, and shift reporting.
- Relevant hospitality or management qualifications or certifications in food safety, health and safety, or beverage service are an advantage.
