The Role Outline: Your Shift at a Glance
Think of this as a Restaurant General Manager role on steroids. As our F&B Operations Manager, you are the commercial and operational commander of every single point of sale in the hotel. You will drive the high energy, cocktail shaking, fast-paced vibe of our Pub & Grill, whilst flawlessly executing complex, large-scale events in our banqueting suites. You will define the local sales strategy, protect the bottom line, and coach your Heads of Department to deliver absolute brand perfection without ever dropping the ball.
Why Village?
At Village, we do hospitality a little differently. We are all about personality, genuine connections, and creating lively spaces for our guests to work, eat, relax, and play.
We know that marrying a branded restaurant culture with a huge M&E operation takes serious emotional intelligence. You will have to navigate egos, break down the inevitable defensive silos between the pub team and the events crew, and build a unified front. If you have the commercial sharpness of a high street GM and the lateral thinking to manage multiple massive services at once, we will give you the total autonomy to run the show. Because it really does take a Village.
How The Village Thrives
We live our culture through three simple commitments:
- We Can & We Do: We show up to make a genuine difference and do fantastic work every day, with purpose.
- We Will: Treat each other with respect and dignity. No ego, no drama. We try our best and look out for each other.
- We Care: We care about our impact on guests, the community, and each other.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Your Remit: What You Will Actually Be Doing
We Do Not Just Need a Host; We Need a Commercial Powerhouse Who Can Read a Room And Read a P&L. We Trust You To Handle
- The Restaurant Vibe: Treating the Pub & Grill like a standalone powerhouse. You will mandate branded pre-shift briefings, drive product knowledge, and ensure the energy, music, and service are always completely on point.
- The M&E Engine: Flawlessly executing large-scale events. You will coach your teams to deliver massive banqueting numbers with the exact same attention to detail and flair as a table of two in the main restaurant.
- The Commercial Reality: Protecting the Gross Profit. You will review wage costs relentlessly using Fourth, ensure stock par levels are razor sharp, and guarantee Venpower is used accurately for weekly counts so we never leak profit.
- The Leadership Culture: Managing your managers. You will replace recruitment guesswork with quantifiable metrics, mentor your Heads of Department, and build a resilient, high-performing team that actually wants to work together.
How We Succeed Together
We do not micromanage. It takes a village, so we believe in Ownership & Integrity, giving you the absolute freedom to make decisions on the fly, lead your departments, and smash your local TripAdvisor rankings. We Empower & Elevate our people, offering brilliant training if you need to sharpen your skills on either the restaurant or the events side of the operation.
