Chai Wu is a modern Chinese restaurant located on the fifth floor of the iconic Harrods department store in London, offering an elegant, high-end dining experience. The team focuses on elevated dining, showcasing signature hand-carved duck and delicately crafted dim sum that blend luxury with distinctive, exotic flavors. The restaurant’s food philosophy is inspired by the Five Elements, creating a refined and immersive atmosphere centered around wood and fire. Chai Wu also offers exclusive private dining spaces, The Pavilion and The Alcove, ideal for intimate celebrations, corporate events, and product launches. The team is committed to curating exceptional moments for guests through attentive service and sophisticated cuisine.

Role Description

The Restaurant Chef at Chai Wu London is a full-time, on-site role based in London. The Chef will oversee daily kitchen operations, including menu execution, food preparation, and cooking of modern Chinese dishes to the restaurant’s luxury standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily kitchen operations
  • Menu execution
  • Food preparation and cooking of modern Chinese dishes
  • Maintaining food quality and presentation
  • Coordinating service to support both the main dining area and private dining events
  • Ensure strict adherence to hygiene and food safety regulations
  • Manage inventory and ordering
  • Collaborate with management on seasonal menus and special event offerings

Qualifications

Must Have:

  • Strong culinary skills, including advanced Cooking and Food Preparation in a high-end or fine dining environment
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a kitchen as a Chef or similar
  • Knowledge and practice of Hygiene and food safety standards, with experience implementing kitchen sanitation procedures
  • Experience in Food Service, ensuring timely, consistent, and high-quality plating and presentation
  • Proficiency in modern Chinese cuisine or Asian-inspired Culinary Skills, with an interest in creative menu development
  • Ability to collaborate with the kitchen team in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, including inventory control and coordination with front-of-house
  • Languages: English
