Lawyer - Restructuring and Insolvency

We are seeking a lawyer to join our growing Restructuring and Insolvency team. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor or legal executive with 2/3 years' post-qualification experience who has worked on contentious insolvency, restructuring and recovery matters.

You will play a key role in supporting complex investigations, contentious insolvency assignments and restructuring engagements. Working closely with Insolvency Practitioners, Partners and other specialists across the Group, you will provide legal expertise across a broad range of matters, including investigations into director conduct, antecedent transactions, recovery actions and insolvency-related disputes.

This is a unique role within a busy contentious team that combines investigations and technical legal work with strategic case management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee a varied caseload of contentious insolvency and restructuring matters from inception through to resolution.
  • Support Insolvency Practitioners and restructuring professionals on investigations into director conduct and considering/identifying claims such as transactions at an undervalue, preferences, misfeasance/breach of duty claims, unlawful distributions and wrongful and misfeasant trading.
  • Draft and review correspondence, settlement agreements and other legal documentation.
  • Lead communications and correspondence with directors, creditors, debtors and legal representatives.
  • Advise on insolvency legislation, case law and regulatory developments.
  • Assist with litigation strategy, dispute resolution and recovery actions arising from formal insolvency procedures.
  • Analyse financial information and assess recovery opportunities.
  • Instruct external legal advisers and counsel where appropriate.
  • Support with negotiations, settlements and alternative dispute resolution
  • Ensure all matters are progressed efficiently, compliantly and in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to the development of junior team members through coaching and technical support.
  • Participate in business development initiatives and support the continued growth of the contentious team in the Southwest.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
