The Opportunity
Joshua Robert is partnering with an established and growing property consultancy to appoint a Retail Agency Surveyor to join its Birmingham team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded surveyor looking to develop their career within the Retail & Leisure sector.
You do not necessarily need to come from a retail agency background. The business is open to surveyors from an office or industrial agency background who have a genuine interest in retail and are looking to broaden their experience.
The Role
You will support the Head of Retail across a varied portfolio of retail and leisure instructions throughout Birmingham and the wider Midlands.
Responsibilities
- Supporting leasing and disposal instructions across high street, retail park and shopping centre assets
- Assisting with acquisition and occupier requirements
- Undertaking market research and comparable analysis
- Supporting the preparation of marketing strategies and property particulars
- Identifying and approaching prospective occupiers
- Attending property inspections and viewings
- Assisting with negotiations and progressing transactions through to completion
- Developing relationships with existing and prospective clients
- Supporting business development and new instruction opportunities
- Building a strong understanding of the Birmingham and wider Midlands retail market
- Working closely with the Head of Retail and wider agency team

About You
We are looking for a commercially minded and personable surveyor with a minimum of 2 years' commercial property agency experience.
Your existing experience could be within:
- Retail Agency
- Office Agency
- Industrial Agency
What matters most is a genuine interest in Retail & Leisure and a desire to build a career within the sector.
You will ideally have:
- A minimum of 2 years' commercial property agency experience
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- A proactive and commercially minded approach
- An interest in the Birmingham and wider Midlands property market
- Good client relationship and business development skills
- The ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- MRICS qualification or be working towards qualification
You will be ambitious, curious and keen to learn. Most importantly, you will have the enthusiasm to develop your knowledge of the retail market and work closely with an experienced Head of Retail.
