Retail Area Manager Edinburgh

Alexander Steele Recruitment is delighted to be working with an established and growing retail business to recruit an Area Retail Manager responsible for a portfolio of stores across the Edinburgh region.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced multi-site retail leader who thrives on developing people, driving commercial performance, and delivering an outstanding customer experience.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Leadership Team, you'll take full responsibility for the performance of a cluster of retail stores, ensuring each location operates to the highest standards while achieving ambitious commercial objectives.

You'll coach and support Store Managers to maximise sales, improve profitability, maintain operational excellence, and create a positive culture that delivers exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and develop a portfolio of Store Managers and their teams.
  • Drive sales, profitability and KPI performance across all stores.
  • Analyse trading performance and implement action plans to improve results.
  • Ensure consistently high standards of visual merchandising, store presentation and customer service.
  • Recruit, coach and develop high-performing retail teams.
  • Conduct regular store visits, audits and performance reviews.
  • Manage staffing levels, succession planning and employee engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and health & safety standards.
  • Build a culture of accountability, ownership and continuous improvement.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience managing multiple retail stores.
  • A proven track record of delivering sales growth and improving commercial performance.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills with the ability to develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and analytical ability.
  • The confidence to challenge, influence and make decisions.
  • A hands-on management style and willingness to spend significant time within stores.
  • Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across the Edinburgh area.
