EXEMPT
This position offers flexibility regarding on-site location within the New Peoples Bank branch network.
Primary Purpose
This position is responsible for managing the Retail Administration Department as well as the sales efforts and operational risk for the retail line of business. In addition, this position is responsible for program development, branch budgeting, branch project management, and active participation and representation on corporate level project teams and committees.
The following essential duties do not cover an all-inclusive list of work requirements. Individuals will perform other job-related duties as assigned, including work in other areas to cover absences or otherwise balance the workload.
Essential Functions
- Provide management oversight to the Retail Administration Department. This activity includes salary administration, performance appraisals, staff development (i.e. coaching, counseling, training), and assistance to subordinates in problem resolution.
- Responsible for compliance with retail controls, maintaining retail’s business resumption plans, and ensuring that an internal audit process is in place to maintain favorable audit results at the branch level.
- Works collaboratively with Chief Banking Officer and Market Presidents to develop branch expense and income budgets, as well as branch goals for the retail line of business.
- Maintain a structured branch visitation schedule with documented visits to every branch focused on coaching, development, relationship building, and two-way feedback.
- Develop, implement, and deliver strategies intended to upgrade the quality and effectiveness of retail’s human capital, responsible for creating and maintaining retail related job descriptions, understanding job specifications, and assisting with performance management and employee development methods.
- Supports the Chief Banking Officer with overall salary administration and staff count analysis.
- Responsible for the development and delivery of effective programs to support sales growth at all branches, and efficient, safe, and secure operations with excellent customer service.
- Act as project manager to drive retail initiatives with support of Retail Sales and Service Manager.
- Represent the retail line of business through active participation on project teams, committees, and necessary bank meetings.
- Act as escalation point for branch and customer problems/, complaints, and various operational processes that require override decisions.
- Assist the retail line of business in defining, implementing, and attaining key performance indicators.
- Represent the bank in civic and community activities.
- Maintain compliance with and adhere to all state and federal regulations and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, FACT ACT, Community Reinvestment Act, and EEO/AA/Fair Employment Practices.
- Regularly refresh knowledge of and familiarity with online, mobile, electronic and traditional products and services. Regularly practice/rehearse customer conversation and engagement skills around the entire suite of New Peoples Bank products and services. Invite customer respect by demonstrating product and service knowledge and engaging customers around the benefits of using them.
- Performs related duties and responsibilities as required and assigned.

Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or comparable business experience preferred.
- Minimum of five years supervisory/human resource experience.
- Minimum of seven years retail banking sales and service experience.
- Must complete required training.
Key Competencies
- Must possess strong strategic and tactical management and leadership skills.
- Must possess extensive knowledge of financial institution operating policies and procedures; especially regulatory and internal control requirements.
- Must be able to use independent judgement in completing activities and operate under minimal supervision.
- Must be able to effectively partner with branch staff, internal bank departments, clients, auditors, and outside vendors.
- Ability to build strong business relationships across all lines of business.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to master job specific software and hardware components.

Salary Description
Salary Range: $88,400.00 - $136,100.00
