Job Title

Are you passionate about creating standout retail experiences that bring toy brands to life and drive shopper engagement?

Do you thrive at the intersection of creativity, commercial strategy, and retail activation?

Ready to shape in-store experiences that inspire discovery, increase visibility, and deliver measurable sales growth?

Macgregor Black are partnering with a well-established toy brand on the search for a Retail Experience & Trade Marketing Manager.

We're seeking an innovative, commercially focused Retail Experience & Trade Marketing Manager to lead best-in-class retail marketing programmes across a toy portfolio. Sitting at the intersection of sales, marketing and retail activation, the role centres on "retail-tainment" - bringing brands to life in-store through shopper marketing campaigns, POS solutions, display merchandising and experiential initiatives that drive visibility, engagement and sales across key retail partners. Working closely with sales teams, retailers and agencies, you'll turn retail spaces into destinations that inspire discovery, play and purchase.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement innovative retail activation strategies that create memorable, engaging shopper experiences, identifying emerging retail trends and shopper behaviours to keep in-store experiences market-leading.
  • Design and deliver retail-tainment concepts — interactive displays, demonstrations, themed environments and experiential activations — that bring toy brands to life in-store.
  • Collaborate with key retail partners to create bespoke customer experiences aligned to retailer objectives and brand strategy, supporting joint business planning with strategic accounts.
  • Lead the creation and deployment of permanent and temporary POS materials, and manage display merchandising solutions with the design team (FSDUs, counter and pallet displays, shop-in-shop concepts, window displays, interactive merchandising units, seasonal and promotional displays), ensuring all solutions are commercially effective and operationally practical.
  • Oversee production from concept through implementation and evaluation, working closely with National Account Managers on customer-specific activation plans and presenting concepts directly to key retail customers.
  • Act as primary marketing contact for retail-facing initiatives and trade opportunities, managing external POS, display and production agencies, and coordinating cross-functional teams across Sales, Product Development and Operations.
  • Manage multiple concurrent retail projects and seasonal campaigns, delivering on time, within budget and to agreed quality standards.
  • Monitor effectiveness of activations and merchandising programmes, analysing sales data, shopper insights and retailer feedback, and tracking KPIs (display compliance, campaign effectiveness, shopper engagement, sales uplift) to inform post-campaign evaluations.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
