We focus on meaningful ways to prevent crime through bike repair workshops. We support people to learn different skills, gain valuable experience, and build the resilience and self-belief they need to succeed.

This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references, and consideration of any disclosure in relation to the role. A criminal record will not automatically prevent appointment.

  • Maximise income through the sale of donated cycles, bike mechanics, and other products.
  • Oversee the development of our Community Bike Shop as a delivery site for and the face of our charitable work.
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and commercially effective shop; manage staff and volunteers; deliver excellent customer service; and ensure compliance with organisational policies.

Key Responsibilities

Retail Operations

  • Run welcoming, well-presented, and fully staffed retail outlets, including occasional pop-ups.
  • Maximise income through effective merchandising, pricing, stock rotation, and customer service.
  • Maintain a clean, safe sales environment and oversee cash handling, banking, EPOS, and reporting.

  • Catalogue specialist parts and select suitable items for online sale.
  • Promote reuse and recycling, disposing responsibly of unsaleable items.
  • Ensure all bikes sold are tested and meet current regulations.

Bike Donation, Refurbishment, and Donation

  • Decide whether donated bikes are sold, refurbished through prison workshops, or recycled, informed by demand and mechanics' assessments.
  • Ensure refurbished bikes are finished, safety checked, priced, and allocated appropriately.
  • Develop sources of donated bikes and parts and maintain partner relationships.
  • Track selected bikes from donation to sale, donation, or recycling, and gather beneficiary feedback for communications and fundraising.

Staff, Volunteer, and Placement Management

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate staff and volunteers, maintaining effective rotas and an inclusive environment.
  • Host trainees from Upcycle's prison and community programmes and coach them in retail and employability skills.
  • Work with the Senior Mechanic and Trainer to contribute retail content to training.
  • Raise safeguarding or wellbeing concerns through agreed channels.

Commercial Development

  • Develop local marketing, partnerships, promotions, and events to increase footfall, donations, and sales.
  • Identify new retail and social-enterprise opportunities, including targeted online sales.
  • Select suitable specialist or higher-value stock for online marketplaces and create accurate listings.
  • Manage online enquiries, transactions, collection, or dispatch while promoting Upcycle's charitable aims.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
