Retail Manager – Pharmacy
Location: Birmingham
Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum, depending on experience
About the Role
We are looking for an organised, customer-focused Retail Manager to lead the day-to-day retail operations of our pharmacy in Birmingham. You will motivate the team, maintain excellent shop-floor standards and drive retail performance while working closely with the pharmacist to deliver a welcoming, professional customer experience. This role focuses on retail management. Clinical queries and decisions will be referred to the pharmacist.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily retail operations, ensuring the pharmacy is clean, well presented and welcoming.
- Lead, support and motivate the retail team, setting clear expectations for customer service and performance.
- Coordinate staff rotas and day-to-day duties to maintain effective shop-floor coverage.
- Monitor sales and retail targets, identifying opportunities to improve performance through appropriate promotions and merchandising.
- Manage stock ordering, deliveries, replenishment, stock rotation and expiry checks.
- Maintain accurate cash-handling procedures and oversee till reconciliation.
- Resolve retail customer enquiries and complaints professionally, referring medicine-related or clinical questions to the pharmacy team.
- Work closely with the pharmacist to support smooth operations and ensure staff follow agreed procedures.
- Support recruitment, induction and ongoing training for retail colleagues.
- Follow company policies for health and safety, security and confidentiality.

Essential
- Previous experience as a retail manager, assistant manager or supervisor.
- Strong team leadership and customer service skills.
- Experience managing stock, merchandising and cash handling.
- A practical understanding of sales targets and retail performance.
- Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- A responsible approach to confidential information and customer care.

- Experience working in a community pharmacy or health and beauty retail environment.
- Relevant pharmacy counter training.
- Experience coaching colleagues and improving store performance.
