About Us
Hawes & Curtis is a quintessentially British heritage brand with a legacy in luxury shirting, fine tailoring, and stylish casualwear. With a strong reputation for quality and timeless design, we are proud to dress the modern gentleman and woman with impeccable craftsmanship and style.
The Role
The Retail Marketing & Visual Merchandising Manager will transform our stores into a more modern, premium and commercially effective retail environment, ensuring customers immediately understand what we’re selling, what’s new, what the offers are, how products fit and where they should shop.
Key Responsibilities
Visual Merchandising
- Completely review product presentation, tables, wall bays, mannequins, outfitting, density, colour stories, category adjacencies and focal points.
- Stores should feel curated rather than simply stocked.
Store Atmosphere
- Improve the overall feeling when customers enter — windows, lighting, music, fixtures, styling, focal points, seasonal changes and the general premium feel.
- The objective is to make H&C feel more contemporary without losing its Jermyn Street heritage.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

POS & Customer Communication
- Create a proper hierarchy for POS.
- At the moment, if everything is shouting, nothing stands out. Define standard sizes, positions and formats for promotional, product, price and brand communication.
Promotional Visibility
- A customer walking into the shop should immediately understand the main commercial proposition — for example 4 Shirts £149 or Buy 2 Suits Save £100 — without the store feeling like a discount outlet.
Fit & Product Education
- Introduce permanent, premium-looking fit communication.
- Shirt fit guides, suit fits, trouser fits, collar information, non-iron/fabric benefits and other USPs should help customers shop without always needing a salesperson.
Store Standards & Execution
- Create a proper H&C VM playbook and issue store implementation packs showing exactly how windows, mannequins, tables, walls and POS should look.
- Stores then submit photographs and are audited against the standard.
Essential Requirements
- Has strong experience in fashion, retail, lifestyle or a product-led consumer brand.
- Proven experience as senior visual merchandiser in fashion retail, ideally with a premium or multi-store brand.
- A strong commercial understanding of how visual merchandising drives sales, footfall and conversion, using sales data to inform layout and product placement.
- An excellent eye for detail, colour, styling and brand presentation, with a good understanding of fashion trends.
- Has experience managing integrated 360° retail marketing calendar.
- Is comfortable working closely with Buying and Merchandising.
- Is highly organised and able to manage multiple campaigns and stakeholders.
- Has excellent creative judgement and understands how to turn product into compelling customer stories.
- Is commercially driven and comfortable using trading and performance data to make decisions.
- Flexibility to travel between stores and work occasional evenings or weekends for installations and window changes.
