Retail Security Officer

Are you a proactive security professional who takes pride in protecting people, deterring theft, and delivering exceptional customer service on the front line?

Lodge Security is looking for a dedicated Retail Security Officer to join our on-site team in York on a part-time, permanent basis. Boasting over 100 years of heritage as a family-run business with the agile mindset of a tech startup, Lodge Security blends human expertise with modern technology. In this vital role, you will be the visible face of safety in a busy retail environment, creating a welcoming atmosphere for shoppers while actively safeguarding staff, premises, and stock.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply ASCONE criteria effectively to identify, monitor, and handle shoplifting incidents in line with retail policies.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting visitors, assisting members of the public, and representing the store professionally.
  • Partner closely with store management teams and colleagues to ensure a safe, secure environment for employees and customers.
  • Defuse conflict calmly, de-escalating tense situations and responding promptly to store emergencies.
  • Follow strict compliance and security protocols, accurately completing incident reports and maintaining complete operational records.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
