Retail Security Officer

Location: LIDL Oxford Templars Shopping Park

Hours: 5 Days Per Week

Pay: Competitive Rate

About The Role

We are recruiting for a professional and customer-focused Retail Security Officer to join our team at LIDL Oxford Templars Shopping Park. This role is essential in ensuring the safety and security of customers, colleagues, contractors, and store assets while delivering outstanding customer service.

The successful candidate will provide a highly visible security presence, support loss prevention initiatives, respond to incidents effectively, and contribute to maintaining a safe and welcoming shopping environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a visible and professional security presence throughout the store.
  • Deter theft, fraud, stock loss, and anti-social behaviour.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the sales floor, warehouse, and external areas.
  • Respond appropriately to incidents, emergencies, and security concerns.
  • Complete detailed and accurate incident reports.
  • Liaise with store management, colleagues, and external agencies where required.
  • Monitor and report suspicious activity.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and assist customers whenever necessary.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and site instructions.
  • Support the store team in creating a safe and positive shopping experience.

Essential Requirements

  • Valid SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guarding Licence.
  • Previous experience in a retail security environment.
  • Strong understanding of loss prevention and retail crime deterrence.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confident dealing with members of the public and challenging situations.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Professional, reliable, and well-presented.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.

Technical Skills

Modern retail security relies heavily on digital reporting and technology. Candidates must be comfortable using:

  • Incident reporting and case management platforms.
  • Mobile devices, tablets, and security applications.
  • Electronic reporting systems to record incidents accurately and professionally.
  • CCTV and security monitoring systems.
  • Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, for communication and reporting.
  • Internal systems used for compliance, audits, and security reporting.

We are looking for an experienced security professional who understands the balance between security and customer service. The successful candidate will have the confidence to engage with customers and colleagues, the professionalism to handle incidents effectively, and the technical capability to maintain accurate digital records and reports.

You will be proactive, approachable, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, security, and customer service.
