Staff Shop Manager

Salary: £30,000 per annum
Location: Head Office, Tankersley, Barnsley
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, including one day per weekend.

Are you an experienced retail professional who enjoys creating a great customer experience and takes pride in running a well-organised, high-standard shop? We’re looking for a Staff Shop Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our colleague staff shop at Company Shop Group Head Office.

This is a unique opportunity to manage a shop that is all about our own colleagues. You’ll be responsible for making sure the shop is well presented, fully stocked and running smoothly, whilst providing a friendly and helpful service to our colleagues every day.

You’ll work closely with the wider Company Shop Group team to make sure we continue to deliver a great staff shop experience and that our colleagues are at the heart of everything we do.

About us

Company Shop Group (CSG), part of Biffa, is the largest commercial redistributor of surplus food and household products in the UK.

We enable some of the biggest retailers, manufacturers, food service and logistics providers to unlock value from surplus stock that may otherwise have gone to waste.

The surplus we handle is redistributed through our Company Shop stores and our award-winning social enterprise, Community Shop, where we build stronger individuals and more confident communities.

Working with our partners, we deliver an incredible impact and we're proud to be a good business doing good.

About the role

As our Staff Shop Manager, you’ll take ownership of the day-to-day running of the colleague staff shop at our Head Office.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring the shop is well organised, fully stocked and maintained to a high standard, whilst delivering a great experience for our colleagues.

You’ll need to be hands-on, organised and confident working independently, whilst also building strong relationships with colleagues across the business.

Your responsibilities will include:

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
