About The Role
Join us here at Poundland & Dealz as a Retail Stock Controller Clerk and you’ll play an important role in keeping our stock accurate, organised and moving efficiently through our Distribution Centre.
Working within our warehouse environment in Harlow, you’ll be responsible for monitoring stock levels, tracking stock movements and maintaining accurate inventory records. You’ll work closely with our Warehouse, Logistics and other internal teams to make sure goods are received, stored and dispatched correctly, while investigating and resolving any stock discrepancies along the way.
- Carrying out regular stock and cycle counts
- Checking goods in and out
- Updating our stock systems
- Investigating variances
You’ll help ensure we have the right stock, in the right place, at the right time. You’ll also support a picker-friendly warehouse layout, making sure stock is stored safely and in the correct locations, with stock rotation carried out where required.
Working in a fast-paced Distribution Centre, you’ll use warehouse management and stock control systems to track stock movements and maintain real-time accuracy. You’ll produce and interpret stock reports, monitor shortages and usage, and use data to identify and investigate discrepancies. When issues arise, you’ll work with warehouse teams, suppliers and other stakeholders to understand the root cause and help put the right solution in place.

A proactive, organised and detail-focused approach is essential. You’ll be confident working with numbers and data, comfortable using IT systems and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy. You’ll also need good communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently while being part of a wider team.
This role calls for previous experience within stock control, inventory management, warehouse administration or a logistics environment, with experience maintaining accurate stock records, carrying out stock or cycle counts and investigating stock discrepancies. Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and stock control software is essential, alongside good IT skills including Microsoft Excel. Experience within a Distribution Centre, warehouse or retail logistics operation would be advantageous, as would experience supporting audits, compliance checks or continuous improvement activity.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 3:00pm
