Retail Manager

Edinburgh | £Competitive + Commission

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Retail Manager to join a highly successful and established retail business based in Edinburgh.

The business has built an excellent reputation, a strong customer base and a successful retail operation. With further growth planned, there is now an opportunity for an experienced retail professional to take responsibility for maximising the performance of the store network and ensuring the highest possible standards across the operation.

This is a role for someone who understands that successful retail is about more than simply keeping stores running. It is about people, customer experience, commercial performance and consistently finding ways to improve.

Key Responsibilities

  • Taking overall responsibility for the performance of the retail estate.
  • Leading, coaching and developing Store Managers to deliver consistently strong performance.
  • Setting clear commercial and operational expectations and ensuring these are achieved.
  • Analysing store performance, identifying trends and putting clear improvement plans in place where required.
  • Maximising sales, customer spend, footfall and profitability across the store network.
  • Ensuring consistently high standards of customer service and presentation.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve the customer journey and overall retail experience.
  • Working closely with the Marketing team to ensure campaigns and initiatives translate effectively into store-level sales and customer engagement.
  • Ensuring stores are fully prepared to maximise seasonal, local and promotional opportunities.
  • Developing a strong performance culture across the retail operation.
  • Ensuring effective recruitment, onboarding, training and development of retail colleagues.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About You

We are looking for an experienced retail professional who is commercially focused, people-oriented and passionate about delivering an excellent customer experience. You will ideally have experience managing a multi-site retail operation, although the most important factor is your ability to demonstrate a strong track record of improving performance through people and effective retail management.

  • Proven experience managing multiple retail sites or a sizeable retail operation.
  • Strong commercial awareness and a track record of delivering against sales and performance targets.
  • Excellent people management and leadership skills.
  • The ability to coach and develop Store Managers rather than simply manage them.
  • A strong understanding of customer service and the importance of the overall customer experience.
  • The ability to analyse performance information and turn it into practical action.
  • A proactive approach to identifying opportunities and improving performance.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • The confidence to challenge underperformance while maintaining positive relationships.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • A hands-on approach and the willingness to spend significant time within the stores and with the teams.

The Opportunity

The business is already performing strongly, but there is a clear ambition to maximise the potential of the existing retail estate and continue to develop the customer proposition.
