Summary
We’re looking for Christmas Retail Assistants to join our fantastic team of staff and volunteers and help us deliver a brilliant experience for our visitors throughout the festive period.
Salary: £12.75 per hour
Contract Duration: Fixed term until 4th January 2027
Working Hours: You'll work 15 hours per week. Because this is a seasonal role, availability during our busiest festive dates is really important. You should therefore be available to work key dates across Christmas and New Year, including Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, as required.
For this role, you’ll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role.
What It's Like To Work Here
Christmas is one of the most exciting and atmospheric times of year at Dunham Massey. As the property comes alive for the festive season and Christmas lights, our shop becomes particularly busy, welcoming visitors throughout the day and into the evening. Our main shop will have extended opening hours alongside the Christmas lights, remaining open until 8.30pm. The property is also open across the Christmas period, closing only on Christmas Day.

What You'll Be Doing
As a member of the retail team, you’ll be offering visitors help and advice with their shopping. You’ll have high standards of presentation in the shop while providing excellent service to all customers. This year, alongside our main shop, we will also be operating an additional Christmas pop-up shop within the house, so you may have the opportunity to work across both retail spaces.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
