To attain a high standard of direct patient care within the role through defined clinical procedures and pathways. Due to the autonomous nature of the role the Retinal Lead Nurse is required to assess, examine and treat individuals and exercise judgement regarding the administration of identified treatment through evidence-based practice and support by theoretical input. Medical referral is expected outside these parameters.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main Duties of the Job
The Retinal Lead Nurse is responsible for the planning and preparation of day-to-day management responsibilities and decision-making within their own work area. Will lead clinical audit programmes for their own specialist area of responsibility.
- Teaching, assessing, and clinical supervision of health colleagues is required.
- Contribute to the education, development of other staff members, qualified and unqualified.
- Provide specialist advice to patients, relatives, and clinical team members.
- Work collaboratively and with others to meet the needs of ophthalmic IVT service developments, patients, and their families.
- Provide clinical supervision opportunities for nursing colleagues.
