Retrofit Assessor

Compliance Specifics work alongside a wide variety of construction companies, social housing providers, landlords, and local authorities to lower carbon emissions, reduce energy costs, and help people improve the comfort of their homes. We are currently recruiting for a Retrofit Assessor to join our diverse, friendly, and ambitious team.

We are looking for a full-time Retrofit Assessor who is an adaptable, personable, and positive individual with a can-do attitude to work alongside our team and clients. The Retrofit Assessor must be willing to travel to multiple sites across the country to complete Retrofit Assessments for our clients' SHDF projects in compliance with PAS 2035.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carry out detailed Retrofit Assessments and property surveys on domestic properties
  • Collect accurate information on the property's construction, condition, occupancy, and existing energy efficiency measures
  • Assess the condition and performance of key building elements, including walls, roofs, floors, windows, doors, and heating systems
  • Identify existing defects, risks, and issues that may affect the suitability or sequencing of retrofit measures
  • Gather photographic evidence and supporting information required for the assessment and project records
  • Produce accurate assessment reports and ensure all information is recorded in line with PAS 2035 requirements
  • Complete or support the production of EPCs and other relevant property documentation where required
  • Input assessment data accurately into relevant software and company/client portals
  • Review completed assessments and make any amendments or corrections required by the Retrofit Coordinator or client
  • Liaise with tenants and homeowners during property visits, explaining the purpose of the assessment and answering any questions professionally
  • Communicate with clients, contractors, and the wider retrofit team where additional information or clarification is required
  • Manage an allocated schedule of property visits and ensure assessments are completed within agreed timescales

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Level 3 Retrofit Assessor qualification
  • Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) qualification
  • Level 3 Traditional Buildings qualification
  • Good working knowledge of PAS 2035 and the domestic retrofit process
  • Experience carrying out domestic property surveys or energy assessments
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate reports
  • Good communication skills and the ability to build rapport with tenants, clients, and contractors
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple assessments
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel around the UK
  • Valid DBS certificate

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Level 4 Retrofit Assessor qualification
  • Experience working on SHDF or other government-funded retrofit projects
  • Experience working with social housing providers, housing associations, or local authorities
  • Experience using retrofit assessment software or project management platforms
  • Understanding of retrofit risks, traditional construction, and building defects
  • Experience working alongside Retrofit Coordinators and contractors as part of a PAS 2035 project

This role is subject to a 6-month probationary period.

Please be aware that this role involves a significant amount of traveling around the country and regular visits to residential properties.
