Overview

The RGM Commercial Strategy Manager, Impulse role will work across a wide range of commercial levers like promotional strategy, deal tiling & execution, channel strategy and Max the Mix agenda. The incumbent will develop plans that grow our business, whilst balancing profit & share performance by making appropriate internal / external data backed recommendations and managing execution through our commercial teams.

Success will require working with a wide variety of internal stakeholders including Sales, Marketing, Commercial Finance, Shopper / Consumer Insights and SC as well as with external research and consultancy partners.

Role will report into the RGM Director but will also have regular interaction with RGM Senior Director, as well as other Executive leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of pricing and promotional plans for the UK Snacks business that leverage consumer insights to balance internal and retailer KPIs, and account for competitor strategies
  • Communicate and align these plans with senior stakeholders including the UK Snacks commercial teams and the UK Executive Leadership team
  • Drive mix performance through single-serve growth – working E2E with Marketing, Sales, and Finance teams to identify opportunities
  • Execute the annual commercial plan:
    • Support channel growth through detailed and timely analysis on performance issues, sub-channel and brand-specific commercial recommendations
    • Evaluate and prioritise promotional proposals to ensure that we invest in the highest potential retail growth spaces
    • Lead cross-functional effort together with DX & Perfect Store to define execution priorities
  • Work cross-functionally to build 3-year integrated commercial plan, including pack-price strategies as well as portfolio pricing recommendations. Model volume and financial implications of different strategic options
  • Drive adoption of new RGM digital tools within Impulse
  • Support RGM Director to diagnose transversal business performance questions and bring well rounded recommendations to Exec team
  • Sit on the Impulse Leadership Team and collaborate across channels to drive decisive commercial insights to the forefront and instigate course corrections

  • Strong academic background with quantitative degree preferred but not essential
  • Commercial / Commercial Finance background with strong analytical skills, strategic mindset and pragmatic business sense
  • Ability to extract key messages from complex data across external & internal sources
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, ensuring RGM priorities built into wider commercial plans, and equally ensuring all RGM recommendations are built with cross-functional perspectives
  • Strong understanding of Brand, Format and Channel financials to be able to bring profitability and Mix Management lenses to strategic recommendations
  • Strong modelling skills, to be able to build RGM plans including Pricing, PPA and Mix initiatives, and conduct elasticity analyses
  • Ability to craft clear and compelling communications, both powerpoint and email to impact and influence stakeholders and build balanced and profitable growth plans
  • Able to work independently while keeping Manager apprised of progress and issues
  • Results oriented, able to complete assignments in a timely and accurate manner, and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Collaborative and team-oriented mindset
