Job Title: Revenue Protection Officer
We are partnering with a well-established energy supplier based in Guiseley to secure a sharp, analytical, and tenacious Revenue Protection Officer. In this role, you will act as a critical line of defense against financial loss, taking ownership of identifying and investigating potential revenue leakage, incorrect consumption, billing irregularities, and suspected energy theft across gas and electricity accounts.
If you have a strong background in utility operations, fraud investigation, or complex billing reconciliation and want a role where attention to detail directly impacts business performance, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Risk Identification: Proactively identify revenue protection risks using exception reports, consumption trends, smart-meter data, meter readings, and account activity.
- End-to-End Investigation: Own complex gas and electricity investigations from initial identification through to a compliant, defensible resolution.
- Desktop Analysis: Conduct thorough desktop investigations, validate reads, and review meter, tenancy, and technical account information.
- Field Coordination: Coordinate field activity seamlessly with metering agents, data collectors, Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), gas transporters, and specialist revenue-protection teams.
- Financial Calculation: Accurately calculate estimated consumption, back-bills, and billing adjustments in accordance with industry and regulatory requirements.
- Stakeholder & Customer Management: Handle escalated or disputed customer cases, negotiating and agreeing upon repayment, settlement, or resolution options.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Billing, Collections, Customer Service, Complaints, Legal, and Fraud teams to drive cases to closure.
- Process Improvement: Audit cases, identify root causes of revenue leakage, and recommend actionable improvements to internal processes and controls.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
