Why Us?

It's time to join West Lancs as we embark on delivering our new and ambitious Vision and Priorities. With a focus on environmental sustainability, generating economic prosperity, building inclusive & healthy communities and financial resilience, we are looking for exceptional candidates to help shape our future. You will be joining an organisation that puts its customers first, takes responsibility and works together with a can-do attitude, all while challenging the status quo to deliver exceptional outcomes for our communities.

Your Role!

We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused Revenues and Benefits Officer to join our Revenues and Benefits team.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you will be responsible for administering Council Tax, Business Rates, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support accounts. You will ensure customer records are maintained accurately and that customers receive the correct decisions, bills, notifications and advice in line with legislation, council policies and service standards.

You will process claims, account amendments, discounts, exemptions, reliefs and payment arrangements, while using specialist Revenues, Benefits and document management systems to maintain accurate records. The role also involves investigating and verifying information, providing advice to customers and working closely with colleagues and partner organisations to resolve enquiries and improve customer outcomes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
