Shropshire Council
Are you interested in learning a new skill or transitioning into a new role? We have eight vacancies within our Council Tax processing team (5 vacancies) and Recovery Team (3 vacancies).
We recognise that you may not have experience of working in local government, or in council tax billing, or debt collection, and that is why we are offering a full twelve-week training programme for our new starters to commence in January 2027, where you will be given the regulatory background, and systems training, to enable you to learn and develop the required skills to then be able to move quickly and seamlessly into one of our teams and really hit the ground running.
Most of the training will be delivered remotely via Microsoft Teams. Council tax assessment and collection is challenging and rewarding. If you are interested in being considered for both roles, you will need to submit a separate application for each role.

Revenues Officer
We are looking to appoint 5 FTE Revenues Officers. The main purpose of the revenues officer role is to provide administrative, and customer focused support within a Revenues Team with the main focus on council tax to assist towards the Revenues Service meeting its performance targets and aspirations.

Recovery Officer
We are looking to appoint 3 FTE Recovery Officers. The main purpose of the recovery officer role is to take effective collection and enforcement action in respect of outstanding Council debt, taking into account relevant legislation, Council policy and performance targets with the objective of providing a responsive, efficient, high quality and customer focused approach, in order to maximise collection rates.
