We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Revenues Officer to join our Business Rates team. In this role you will be delivering a high-quality Business Rates service, ensuring the accurate administration, billing, collection and recovery of Non-Domestic Rates whilst maximising income for the Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a varied caseload, dealing with enquiries relating to Business Rates liability, reliefs, exemptions, valuation issues, property occupation and recovery action. You will work closely with businesses, ratepayers and partner agencies, using your technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to provide clear advice, make sound decisions and support the Council's collection objectives. The role will also involve attending Magistrates' Court when required, negotiating payment arrangements and helping customers find sustainable solutions to their debts.

You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong working knowledge of relevant business rates legislation, local government collection practice and rating administration. You should possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, sound decision-making skills and experience of managing customer enquiries through the full billing and recovery cycle. The successful candidate will be confident using IT systems, maintaining accurate records and prioritising a busy workload to meet deadlines and performance targets. In addition, you will be resilient, customer-focused and committed to delivering high standards of service while supporting continuous improvement and innovation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
