The Role
Reporting to the Head of Logistics & Fleet within the Supply Chain & Logistics function, you'll lead the development of our reverse logistics strategy, governance framework and performance management approach. You'll also oversee the performance of key third-party logistics and service partners, ensuring they consistently meet contractual, operational, commercial and compliance expectations.
You'll work closely with teams across Field Operations, Logistics, Warehouse Operations, Asset Management, Finance, Procurement, Compliance, Sustainability and external partners to continually improve the end-to-end asset return journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and develop the reverse logistics operating framework, including governance, standards, performance management and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead strategic supplier and third-party logistics performance management, ensuring service delivery supports current and future business requirements.
- Develop and maintain the reverse logistics roadmap, identifying opportunities to improve capability, technology, process efficiency and asset recovery outcomes.
- Monitor and report on operational performance across meter returns, refurbishment, repair, recycling and disposal processes.
- Ensure returned electricity and gas metering assets are accurately received, tracked, recorded and processed in accordance with industry and business requirements.
- Drive performance improvements by identifying root causes of operational issues and implementing sustainable solutions.
- Produce insightful reporting, dashboards and performance scorecards covering service, cost, compliance and environmental outcomes.
- Maximise value recovery through effective disposition decisions, including reuse, repair, refurbishment, recycling and certified disposal.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, environmental legislation, waste management obligations and data security requirements.

What We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from candidates who have experience in reverse logistics, asset recovery, field logistics, warehouse operations, supply chain management or operational performance environments, particularly within utilities, energy, smart metering, telecommunications, engineering or similarly asset-intensive sectors.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Strong background in reverse logistics, asset recovery or supply chain operations.
- Experience managing suppliers, logistics providers and service partners against KPIs and service level agreements.
- Ability to analyse operational data, identify trends and translate insights into practical improvement plans.
- Experience supporting supplier performance management and governance processes.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance cost, service, compliance and customer outcomes.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and performance reporting capabilities.
- A continuous improvement mindset and experience driving operational change.
Desirable
- Knowledge of smart metering assets and associated industry relationships.
- Experience with Power BI, ERP, warehouse management or asset management systems.
- Professional qualifications such as CILT, APICS, Lean Six Sigma, PRINCE2 or related operational certifications.
- Interest in sustainability and supporting Net Zero objectives.
