Role: RF Design Engineer

Location: Belfast

Working pattern: Hybrid, 3 days onsite

Salary: £65,000 - £75,000

An established defence and electronic engineering organisation delivering complex, high-technology solutions across critical engineering programmes. The business supports the development and integration of advanced electronic systems where robust design, verification, and operational performance are essential.

We are seeking an experienced RF Design Engineer to support the design, development, and validation of RF and mixed-signal electronics for demanding defence applications.

The role offers practical ownership across the RF development lifecycle, from component selection and schematic design through to PCB integration, laboratory testing, and system-level validation. You will work closely with electronics, PCB layout, systems, firmware, and test specialists to develop reliable, production-ready solutions.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and develop RF analogue and mixed-signal electronics for complex engineering systems.
  • Develop transceiver and RF front-end architectures using monolithic RF chipsets, including MMIC, SiP, and SoC-style devices.
  • Design RF schematics, component selections, and impedance-matching networks against defined system requirements.
  • Work with PCB layout engineers on signal integrity, grounding, shielding, routing, and manufacturability.
  • Plan and execute laboratory verification using VNAs, spectrum analysers, RF signal generators, power meters, and oscilloscopes.
