Design the RF Technology Behind Advanced Laser Systems
Are you passionate about RF design, high-power electronics and solving technically complex challenges?
At Novanta, we are recognised globally for our advanced laser and electro-optics technologies. Our products support industrial manufacturing, coding, marking, cutting and scientific applications across the globe, with more than 250,000 laser systems in use worldwide.
We are expanding our engineering capability and are seeking an RF Engineer to help develop the next generation of RF power systems driving our advanced CO₂ laser technologies.
The Opportunity
You will work at the forefront of RF development within a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for both new product innovation and continuous improvement.

This role offers true technical depth, combining RF amplifier design, experimentation, testing and problem-solving in an environment where your expertise will directly influence product performance and reliability.
What You Will Be Doing
- Designing RF electronics for laser excitation systems
- Developing next-generation RF amplifiers from concept through production
- Conducting RF testing, measurement and characterisation
- Designing prototypes and experimental test equipment
- Creating schematics, PCB layouts and BOMs
- Analysing performance data and translating results into actionable improvements
- Supporting manufacturing and continuous improvement activities
- Troubleshooting complex technical issues
- Identifying and evaluating emerging RF technologies and components
What You Will Bring
- Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (MSc advantageous)
- Practical RF development experience
- Experience taking products from concept through production
- Strong RF amplifier knowledge
- Expertise in HF/VHF systems
- PCB design and RF layout experience
- Understanding of FCC and CE compliance requirements
- Strong experimental and analytical problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work across technical and non-technical teams

- RF plasma power supplies
- Thermal management
- Altium Designer
- ADS, AWR or Spice simulation tools
- Python
- C/C++
- Solid-state RF amplifier design
