Job Description

Riggers – Navantia UK

Location: Methil, Fife

We’re looking for experienced Riggers to join Navantia UK at our Methil facility in Fife.

This is an opportunity to work in a busy heavy engineering environment, supporting lifting and rigging activities where safety, teamwork and precision are essential.

The Role

As a Rigger, you’ll be responsible for the safe preparation, movement and positioning of loads and heavy equipment across the site.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Attaching loads and equipment to structures or cranes using cables, clamps, chains and shackles
  • Inspecting and preparing loads prior to lifting and movement
  • Setting, aligning and levelling heavy equipment and machinery
  • Selecting the correct rigging gear for each lift or task
  • Preparing equipment including beams, pulleys, clamps, bolts and associated lifting accessories
  • Inspecting rigging equipment before use to ensure it is safe and suitable
  • Manoeuvring loads using heavy equipment and, where appropriate, by hand
  • Monitoring and maintaining rigging equipment
  • Communicating effectively with the wider rigging, lifting and construction teams
  • Breaking down rigging equipment following completion of lifting activities
  • Carrying out post-rigging inspections
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy and safe working area throughout the job and after completion
  • Ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with company safety procedures

What We’re Looking For

We’re interested in hearing from experienced Riggers who:

  • Have practical experience working within rigging, heavy engineering, construction, fabrication, marine, shipbuilding or similar industrial environments
  • Understand safe lifting and rigging practices
  • Can confidently select and inspect appropriate rigging equipment
  • Are comfortable working around cranes, heavy equipment and large fabricated structures
  • Have a strong approach to health and safety
  • Work well as part of a team and communicate clearly during lifting operations
  • Take pride in maintaining a safe and organised workplace

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 – Moving Engineering Loads or equivalent
  • Knowledge & understanding of LOLER 98
  • In depth knowledge of rigging equipment
  • Ability to work at heights
