Rights Research and Data Creator
Salary: £35,640 - £41,763 per annum
Fixed Term Contract: until 31 March 2029
Location: London, BFI Stephen Street / Hybrid working
We are looking for a Rights Research & Data Creator to research, assess, verify and document rights and provenance information for selected collections of moving image works, creating new rights records and enhancing existing data within the Collections Information Database (CID) as part of the Stories in Motion project.
What you’ll do
- Audit identified collections to assess the availability and quality of existing intellectual property rights (IPR) information.
- Conduct copyright and rights research on audiovisual collections to establish ownership, provenance and rights status.
- Research production credits, collection records, accession documentation and provenance to identify rights holders, copyright owners, collection donors and other stakeholders.
- Create, maintain and enrich rights information within Collections Information Database (CID) in accordance with BFI data standards

What you’ll bring
- Prior experience researching copyright ownership, provenance, intellectual property rights
- Knowledge of UK copyright law, particularly as it relates to film, tv or archives and cultural heritage organisations
- Demonstrable experience of working with collections management or rights management systems
