Department: Assurance & Risk

Description

Our Risk & Assurance team continues to grow at Scrutton Bland, and we’re looking for a motivated and curious Risk & Assurance Audit Associate to join our team and develop their career in risk, assurance, and internal audit.

Whether you already have some experience in internal audit or assurance, or you’re looking to move into the area from external audit, accountancy, finance, risk, compliance, or another related background, this is an opportunity to build your skills and gain valuable experience working with a diverse range of organisations.

Our client base is predominantly within the public sector, alongside a range of not-for-profit and commercial organisations. This means you’ll gain exposure to a variety of organisations and sectors, helping clients strengthen their governance, manage risk, and improve the way they operate.

Working alongside experienced members of our Risk & Assurance team, you’ll develop your understanding of internal audit, risk management, governance, and controls. You’ll have the opportunity to get involved in client assignments, build relationships with clients, and develop your ability to provide practical recommendations that add real value.

Internal audit experience isn’t essential. We’re looking for someone with a genuine interest in how organisations operate, a willingness to learn, and the ability to approach problems thoughtfully and analytically.

Key Responsibilities

As a Risk & Assurance Associate, you’ll support the delivery of high-quality internal audit and advisory services across our predominantly public sector client base. You can expect to:

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
