Reports to: Head of Risk & Compliance
Permanent Role; full or part time hours available
Role Purpose
The Risk & Compliance Officer is responsible for undertaking reviews in line with the risk-based compliance monitoring plan to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The role requires the holder to undertake these reviews from end to end; undertake research on the underlying regulations to ascertain the scope of the review, undertake thorough testing and data analysis to establish whether Safe World (SWIG) has sufficient system and controls in place to migrate the regulatory risk and comprise considered and measured recommendations to rectify any issues identified.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head of Risk and Compliance in drafting the annual compliance monitoring plan, using a risk-based approach.
- Undertake compliance monitoring reviews from end-to end up to and including the tracking of actions recommended through to completion.
- Support with producing reports and Management information for Board and sub committees.
- Analyse monitoring results, claims and complaints trends, broker performance and other management information to identify emerging risks and opportunities for control improvement.
- Review and Test Risk Controls in place
- Manage and report on Risk events
- Support with the maintenance of Risk Registers
- Advise on regulatory change and assist with implementing new FCA rules and guidance
- Support product governance and new product approval processes
- Assist with regulatory risk assessments and compliance reporting
- Provide compliance input into projects, change initiatives and business transformation activities
- Support the Head of Risk and Compliance as required

Essential
- Ability to draft concise and effective reports
- Excellent accuracy skills and attention to detail
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- Fully proficient on Microsoft office, in particular Excel
- Excellent communication skills

Desirable
- Good understanding of regulations applicable to an insurer.
- A relevant qualification in financial services regulation or compliance or CII insurance Certificate
- Industry experience in a relevant role in an FCA authorised financial services firm
- Experience of interpreting the requirements of the FCA Handbook
