NATS is the UK’s leading air navigation service provider, handling over 2.4 million flights each year. We provide air traffic control services from two control centres and at airports around the UK. We also provide a wide range of commercial products and solutions internationally. Our people are at the heart of our purpose to advance aviation and keep the skies safe.

Purpose of the Role

The Risk and Resilience Manager supports the coordination and application of core framework activities across enterprise risk management, business continuity and organisational resilience. The role provides guidance, facilitation and analysis to senior leaders, risk owners and subject matter experts as they identify, assess and manage key risks and undertake resilience planning activities.

This role offers a unique opportunity to build strategic perspective, increase visibility and influence, and develop a broader understanding of the organisation and cross-business challenges. This is also an excellent platform for progression into broader leadership, strategy, governance or transformation roles.

Accountabilities

  • Support the Head of Organisational Resilience in the development and implementation of organisational resilience priorities across the group, contributing to the promotion of a strong risk culture aligned to NATS' purpose and strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate the review and maintenance of the Risk and Resilience Framework and associated policies, standards, guidance, templates, tools and governance arrangements.
  • Provide advice and support to Executive Directors and Senior Leaders in the identification, assessment, management, review and reporting of risks within their divisions and functions, promoting consistency and adherence to agreed methodologies.
  • Monitor and highlight emerging risks, threats and scenarios, supporting discussions with leaders to improve understanding of potential opportunities, vulnerabilities and impacts to service delivery or strategic objectives.
  • Facilitate the activities of the Risk Champion network, supporting the sharing of good practice and the development of organisational capability in risk management and resilience.
  • Support the delivery of business impact assessments, continuity reviews, dependency mapping and resilience assessments with teams across the business.
  • Produce and coordinate risk and resilience reports, dashboards, analysis and papers for senior leadership, Executive and governance forums, including the Audit Committee.
  • Support the Head of Organisational Resilience in the development and delivery of risk and resilience training and awareness activities.
  • Contribute subject matter expertise, analysis and facilitation to support change initiatives, risk reviews, deep dives and priority business issues as required.
  • Promote continuous improvement in risk and resilience practices by engaging with stakeholders, encouraging adoption of agreed approaches and supporting changes in behaviours that strengthen organisational resilience and risk-informed decision-making.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
