Job Title: Risk & Assurance Lead

Location: Cambuslang

Salary: From £55,200, up to 15% bonus and health cover

The role of the Risk & Assurance Lead sits within the SPT Performance & Reporting team, reporting to the Enterprise Performance & Planning Manager. They are primarily responsible for ensuring that SPT has an effectively designed and operating consolidated risk framework in place. The role is responsible for defining and implementing an appropriate risk-based prioritisation model and providing sufficient assurance over strategic business risks to Executive Management and the SPT Managing Director.

The Risk & Assurance Lead is also responsible for managing the business interface with key stakeholders, including risk functions within SPT PMOs, the SPEN Enterprise Risk Partner, and Network Planning & Regulation, ensuring proactive visibility of relevant enterprise risks.

What you’ll be doing

As Risk & Assurance Lead, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining the risk management framework across SP Transmission
  • Ensuring a consistent and effective approach to risk identification, assessment, and governance
  • Consolidating project and operational risks into a strategic view
  • Providing insight and assurance to senior leaders
  • Supporting informed decision-making

You will:

  • Lead the production of risk reporting and assurance activities across the portfolio
  • Ensure risks and opportunities are accurately quantified, managed, and escalated where required
  • Chair risk forums, deliver risk-based reviews, and assurance programmes
  • Drive action plans that strengthen controls, improve performance, and support successful project delivery

As the key interface with Enterprise Risk, Network Planning & Regulation, and the wider SPEN risk community, you will:

  • Ensure alignment with SPEN and Iberdrola standards
  • Maintain awareness of emerging industry risks
  • Champion continuous improvement
  • Embed best practice risk and assurance processes that enhance resilience, governance, and business performance across the organisation

What you’ll bring

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in commercial/business subject such as economics, finance, risk, or numeric degree
  • Prior experience of risk management in a regulatory capacity or other related field complimented by past audit or consulting experience
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, including QSRA / QCRA methodologies
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to negotiate/influence
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Experience in IT Systems, namely, advanced risk management software
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and to interact across all levels of management and executive
  • Ability to design new process and frameworks, while supporting implementation of these across a business unit
  • Understanding and knowledge of energy markets and the regulatory drivers and risks affecting operation of a Transmission Network
  • Excellent presentation skills, with experience in dealing with senior management
  • Ability to effectively lead teams (not necessarily in line) and work in cross functional teams
  • Exceptionally proactive nature, with the ability to innovate and challenge in recognition and support of the business model in which SPT is operating
