Main Purpose

The Head of Risk & Compliance Advisory will ensure the provision of high-quality risk and compliance advisory support to the business, helping them identify, assess, and manage risks and compliance effectively.

Reporting to the Business Risk Director, this role will lead the Business Partner function who act as trusted partners to the business, supporting strong governance, embedding risk and compliance considerations into decision-making, and contributing to a positive risk culture across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Risk & Compliance Advisory

  • Provide leadership and direction to the risk and compliance business partners team, fostering a culture of ethical conduct and risk awareness
  • Collaborate with business units to address risk-and compliance related issues and provide guidance on mitigating risks to avoid and delimit risk crystallisation
  • Provide clear, timely, and expert advice on risk and compliance matters to business leaders and teams.
  • Support the identification, assessment, and management of risks.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across risk frameworks, reporting, and processes.
  • Act as a point of escalation for key risks, emerging themes, issues and Incidents and Breaches.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with business stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Provide constructive challenge to ensure risk-based decision-making and regulatory compliance.
  • Producing and delivering high-quality risk insight and reporting for governance forums, senior management, regulatory bodies, and Boards (including Trustees of The People’s Pension), ensuring clear communication of risk management status and key findings.
  • Encourage embedding of risk and compliance considerations into business planning, change activity, and day-to-day operations.
  • On occasion deputising for the Business Risk Director where appropriate

Governance & Reporting

  • Ensure production of high-quality reporting and insights on risk, and compliance.
  • Lead monitoring of action plans, incidents, breaches, and emerging risks.
  • Provide clear recommendations to strengthen governance and mitigate risk.

• Proven experience in a senior risk management or related role, with a focus on risk mitigation through business partnering • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex business and risk requirements • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels • Demonstrated leadership experience, including the ability to build and lead a high-performing team • Results-oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.

Essential

  • Excellent knowledge of UK workplace pensions market, or financial services
  • Knowledge of risk management across commercial teams, digital teams, IT, operational resilience
  • Relevant Risk management qualifications or any relevant related academic achievements
