Risk, Compliance & Governance Manager
As our Risk, Compliance & Governance Manager, you’ll help shape and protect Riverford’s future.
This aim of this position will be to help us build and strengthen how we manage risk, governance and business resilience across Riverford. You'll work with teams right across the business, helping us identify what could get in the way of delivering our Action Plan, whilst ensuring the future of business, making sure we have sensible controls in place, and helping us prepare for unexpected challenges.
This isn't about creating paperwork for the sake of it. It's about helping people make informed decisions, understand risks, and feel confident that we're prepared when things don't go to plan. You'll develop and embed practical frameworks for risk management and business continuity, support governance reporting, coordinate assurance activities, and help ensure we're meeting our legal and regulatory responsibilities.
You'll also play an important role in helping us build a culture where managing risk is part of everyday decision-making rather than something that sits in a separate function.
We're looking for someone who enjoys working collaboratively, can influence at all levels of the business, and is comfortable turning complex topics into clear, practical actions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
